You're invited to join your classmates for a brief orientation followed by Q&A where we'll touch on each of the program components from Zoom best practices, to setting up your Mighty Networks profile, to how to get the most out of the time with your coach.

Kickoff and Skills-Assessment Activity
Facilitators: Jenny Drescher and Ellen Feldman Ornato, Founding Partners – Bolder Company Inc.
This workshop is designed to help you understand yourself and others through the lens of personality. Unlock the personal perspectives, motivations, and preferences that make you who and how you are. Then turn the lens outwards to learn how to understand and manage others. This brief introduction to the language of DiSC will include conversations, a personalized report, and fun with your new friends in the MDP program.

Networking - yuck or yay? No matter how you feel about the word, building thoughtful relationships inside and outside of your organization is a key factor to your success!
- In this session, we will practice our elevator speeches, give and receive feedback, and explore how we want to be known and viewed for the long run
- You will also gain insights about different types of networking situations and how to handle them, and learn some actionable strategies to use LinkedIn and other technologies to network and build your personal brand effectively

Effective Business Communication

- In this session, you'll learn the basics of effective professional communication. We will walk through stories and examples and tease out insights to help you communicate with power, precision and poise in your role
- Getting your message across
- Emails, list serves, LinkedIn, and social media
- Construct and express clear and concise messages in both written and spoken communication
- Utilize an empowering and dynamic communication process to increase team members’ motivation and commitment
- Deliver messages that address the interests of the listener
- Make verbal and nonverbal communication congruent to reinforce the intent of messages
- Use reflecting, supporting, advising to demonstrate active listening to others
- Provide the rationale for your feedback, whether to reinforce or improve performance
