Laura Lyke
Former President & CEO
ICC International
Professional Bio
Laura Lyke graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, before launching her career at BBDO Worldwide Ad Agency (then Batten Advertising) and TransAd agency (now Urban Outdoor Trans Ad).
She moved to Tennessee in 1998 and began working at ICC International. By 2003, Laura had taken ownership of ICC as the company has grown into a multi-million-dollar enterprise. In 2022, ICC won the Pinnacle Business Award for Woman-Owned Business Excellence, and it was honored by Inc. 5000 as one of America’s Fastest Growing Companies in 2020. In 2019, ICC was recognized with the Best of Blount Award for Small Business of the Year.
Laura was extremely generous with her time, which she gave to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Vistage CEO Leadership, revitalizing downtown Knoxville with new business and art while promoting the stewardship of its heritage, and volunteering in support of her children’s school. She drove ICC to play an important, giving role in its community, delivering food to frontline workers during the pandemic, and creating care packages to send to U.S. military troops overseas at Christmas.
Laura served as a role model, mentor, and coach to women across manufacturing, and actively promoted not only their involvement in the sector, but their leadership. She recognized that success in manufacturing depended directly on the support of all team members.
2023 would have marked Laura’s 20th year of ownership of ICC. Throughout that time, ICC International built a reputation as the world’s leading manufacturer of commutators.
Tragically, Laura passed away suddenly in late 2022, leaving behind a tremendous legacy, and a storied history that continues to have a positive impact in her community and throughout the industry. She was a role model, an innovator, and a leader. She is missed.
Laura was inducted posthumously into the 2023 Women in Manufacturing Hall of Fame.
