Join the WiM Western Michigan Chapter for an interactive learning event! Explore resources available to local manufactures in the Western Michigan University AMP Lab, which is supported in partnership with Grand Rapids Community College. Registration includes a tour of the AMP Lab, followed by a presentation on Emotional Intelligence from Balmatee Bidassie, Ph.D., PMP., Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
This presentation will provide an overview of the significance of “Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace” and participants will leave with techniques to develop stronger personal and professional relationships. Learn to improve teamwork and customer service through emotional intelligence, regardless of the size of your organization.

Meet Our Presenter
Balmatee Bidassie, Ph.D., PMP., Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Dr. Bidassie holds a doctorate in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and two master’s degrees in Statistics and Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. Her broad-based experience encompasses computer science, electrical engineering, academics, consulting, statistics, research, project management, operations and healthcare transformations. In her various leadership roles, she led and collaborated with highly effective multi-disciplinary technical, and clinical teams to drive efficient enterprise-level transformation across complex organizations. Additionally, she is a corporate trainer in Lean Six Sigma and also delivered lectures at Columbia University, Purdue University, Western Michigan University and Bronx Community College. She serves as a global Lean Six Sigma Black Belt responsible for developing, leading, coaching and facilitating Design for Six Sigma (Product Development), Lean Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma Projects; as well as; mentoring 100+ candidates toward green belt and black belt certification and various quality certifications. She has 15+ years of experience teaching emotional intelligence within process improvement projects in various industries which includes manufacturing, operations and healthcare industries to name a few. Balmatee lives in Michigan and in her free time she teaches project management and quality classes, serves as an academic advisor, female industry mentor to Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and Women in Engineering Leadership (WIEP) programs. Her hobbies include golfing, travelling to experience new cultures and volunteering with groups/activities focused on protecting the environment and supporting healthy lifestyles. Balmatee is very passionate about improving the quality of life for people globally.
