Join the WiM Western Michigan and WiM Southeast Michigan Chapters for a presentation and tour of MSU’s new mass timber building, the first-ever of its kind in the state of Michigan.
You might think, “Humans have been building with wood for centuries – why does this matter?” But we haven’t been building with wood like this. When we talk about “mass timber,” we’re referring to an array of engineered wood building materials, many of which – like the cross-laminated timber panels and glue-laminated timber columns and beams used in the MSU STEM Facility – are indeed massive and very strong.
Join us for this interactive event, where we will tour the facility and learn from their expert presenters, who include:
- Sandra Lupien, Director, MassTimber@MSU
- George Berghorn, Assistant Professor of Construction Management; Research Director, MassTimber@MSU
We can't wait to see you there!
