WiM SUMMIT 2024: Be a Champion For Success in Boston
WiM SUMMIT 2024: Champion Your Success in Boston
The Women in Manufacturing Association (WiM) is thrilled to announce our upcoming 14th annual WiM SUMMIT, taking place October 6-9, 2024, at the prestigious Hynes Convention Center in Boston. This year's event promises an unparalleled experience with enhanced programming spread across three days, including our special Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Sunday.
With an expected attendance of over 2,000 individuals, our theme for this year’s WiM SUMMIT is "Champion for Success," reflecting our organization's dedication to empowering women in the manufacturing industry to excel and lead with confidence.
The expanded programming for the WiM SUMMIT is designed to provide maximum value to attendees, both individuals and companies. The agenda includes an impressive lineup of plant tours, educational sessions, and technology-focused discussions. Attendees can look forward to approximately 60 educational sessions covering a wide range of topics crucial for professional growth and innovation in manufacturing. “This year we're expanding the number of educational sessions, and we are increasing the number of technology and industry topic sessions. We want ensure that the participants are equipped with and informed on all the latest technology and innovation information, so they be even larger contributors to their organization and industry,” says Allison Grealis, founder and president of the Women in Manufacturing Association.
WiM SUMMIT 2024 will offer attendees the opportunity to customize their experience with breakout sessions tailored to various tracks, allowing them to chart their own professional development journey, akin to a choose-your-own-pathway experience. From foundational sessions to advanced discussions, the event caters to individuals at all levels of expertise, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for everyone.
“Whether it’s problem we are facing in our factory or how to improve our internal WiM presence to better serve the women in our workforce, the breakout sessions were engaging and relevant and helped advance the mission of supporting women in the manufacturing field,” says Tracy Guzman, BDS Fabrication Senior Manager at Boeing Defense, Space and Security, who attended WiM’s SUMMIT in 2023.
Also this year, the WiM SUMMIT will offer curated special sessions and sections to address the unique challenges and opportunities in talent management and advancement for small to mid-sized privately held companies. These tailored sessions aim to facilitate resource and information sharing, fostering a supportive environment for growth and success.
“There are a lot of mentorship opportunities, where experienced professionals can offer guidance and support to those seeking to advance their careers,” says Joanna Perz, Global Sustainability Manager at Ingersoll Rand, who has attended SUMMIT in past years. “The events allow women to advocate for greater gender diversity and inclusion in our company, promoting positive change within the industry,” Perz adds.
One of the key highlights of this year's WiM SUMMIT is the fifth annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where exceptional women will be honored for their outstanding contributions to the industry. This event adds to the legacy of past inductees, creating a network of accomplished leaders inspiring future generations.
Boston was chosen as the host city for the WiM SUMMIT due to its significance as a growing hub for Women in Manufacturing. Our vibrant chapters in Massachusetts and Connecticut, along with our upcoming chapter in Rhode Island, underscore the region's importance in advancing diversity and innovation in manufacturing. Additionally, Massachusetts' reputation as a dynamic manufacturing state aligns perfectly with our organization's mission and goals.
This choice is further reinforced by our theme of “Champion for Success” which is inspired by the city's rich legacy of sports champions and the winning spirit that defines it. Just as Boston's teams have conquered challenges and celebrated victories, women in manufacturing can harness this energy to champion their own success in the industry.
As the association continues to evolve and innovate, the WiM SUMMIT stands as a testament to our organization's commitment to championing diversity, leadership, and excellence in the manufacturing sector. Join us in Boston this October to champion your success and contribute to a brighter future for women in manufacturing.
